Evening Concert at St. Mary's Church, Haddington

As part of the Haddington 700 celebrations, the Band will be providing an evening concert on Saturday 26th May 2018 at St. Mary's Church, Haddington, starting at 7.30pm. Haddington 700 marks the 700th anniversary of the town receiving a charter from Robert the Bruce in 1318, confirming its status as a royal burgh.

Tickets are available for purchase online by clicking this link DMBRASS TICKET SITE

Tickets can also be purchased at Diggory's Cafe and at Falko's Cafe/Restaurant, both located on High Street Haddington. Any remaining tickets will be available at the door on the evening of the event.

St Mary's Church is known as 'The Lamp of Lothian', a testament to the architectural and spiritual significace of the largest parish church in Scotland.

The current church dates to the 14th century and replaces an earlier building destroyed when Haddington was sacked and burned by the marauding English in 1356.

The building's stunning interior and huge vaulted ceilings offer a perfect location for our Brass Band Concert - truly bringing the glorious sound of Brass to life!

Box Meeting, Port Seton

The Band will be providing musical entertainment at Port Seton Box Day meeting, which precedes it's Gala Day. It is a very old event that the local community has just recently revived. The Box Day Meeting was traditionally held on the third Friday of September after the summer fishing when local fishermen returned from weeks away from home. Having each contributed from what they had made, money would be distributed from the Box to help those less fortunate in the community, as this was in the days before they had insurance. It is hoped that the ‘Friendly Society’ banner carried in the original Box Day meeting will be repaired and returned to the community from the Local Authority’s Museum for use by current and future generations.
